On Friday, 22 September all St Martin de Porres School students celebrated their Positive Education Day; a day centred around positive health and ‘Awe & Wonder’. We celebrated the day by visiting the new (local) Glenthorne National Park and were amazed at the opportunities present for the students to engage in play.
The adventure playground features three slides, a seesaw, spinner, fossil dig area and Kaura carvings and sculptures set across 7,000 square metres, making it one of the biggest nature play spaces in South Australia. There are also rope and log climbing elements, a pendulum swing, cubby building, a 25m long flying fox and a wide range of accessible equipment to ensure children of all abilities can enjoy the space.
What a day it was! The sun was shining, and the students' faces depicted the joy, awe and wonder they had for the experiences and each other.
On behalf of the staff and students, we extend our thanks to all parents who volunteered on the day, making this excursion offsite possible.
